MARCO OLIVIER

Marco Olivier is an established South African sculptor and contemporary artist based in Cape Town, where he owns and operates his own bronze foundry. Working primarily in bronze and resin, Marco is recognized for his distinctive sculptures, signature textures and expressive surface finishes.
Born in Upington in 1972 and raised in Cullinan, Marco’s journey into art was shaped by a challenging childhood and a strong determination to overcome adversity. After attending Pretoria Boys High, where he discovered his passion for art and design, he went on to qualify in aviation and aircraft maintenance before eventually following his creative calling.

Marco’s professional journey as a sculptor began in Cape Town, where he created his first cast-aluminum sculpture at a small foundry in Salt River. What began as a personal passion developed into a successful artistic career, with his work gaining national and international recognition. His sculptures have been exhibited and installed in prominent locations across South Africa, including the Cape Town CBD, Camps Bay, Sea Point, Somerset Mall, the Old Biscuit Mill, Root44 and other public and private spaces. His work has also featured in television productions, films, international publications and major design and lifestyle platforms.
Marco has been featured on Top Billing and his work has appeared in productions including Netflix’s Blood & Water, while his sculptures have also been used by international film and television productions. His work has attracted interest from international designers, galleries and collectors, extending his artistic presence beyond South Africa.

Beyond his own artistic practice, Marco works closely with his family and creative team. His daughter Lisa has collaborated with him on a number of sculptures, while his broader team supports the business across marketing, administration and operations.
Marco’s practice encompasses unique sculptures, limited editions, commissioned works, structural and functional art, portrait sculpture and bespoke pieces for architects, developers, collectors and corporate clients.

At the heart of Marco’s story is resilience. From humble beginnings and significant personal and professional setbacks, he built a career around his passion for creating. Today, his work reflects that journey — combining craftsmanship, individuality and an unwavering commitment to creating art that makes an impact.
