Art found Tracey Garcia early. From her school years, she was often asked by classmates to bring their themes and projects to life through drawing and painting. What began with HB colour pencils and mixed-media paints gradually became a lifelong artistic language.
Entirely self-taught, Tracey developed her practice through experimentation, observation and an instinct to go beyond the expected. She works intuitively with colour, texture and composition, allowing each layer to build upon the next. Her approach is grounded not in formal training, but in a deeply personal process of learning through making.
Tracey draws inspiration from the ordinary moments that shape extraordinary lives—home, family, friendship, memory and the resilience required to hold things together. Her practice is rooted in what she describes as “the archive of everyday life,” transforming personal experiences into tactile and layered works that explore emotion, memory and belonging.
Working primarily in mixed media, Tracey creates richly textured surfaces where colour becomes a carrier of emotion and texture becomes a record of lived experience. Her artworks speak quietly of care, survival, impermanence and the beauty found within the imperfect.
Today, Tracey continues to develop her practice independently, guided by intuition, lived experience and an unwavering commitment to creating work that is authentic, meaningful and emotionally true.
